My Review of DAB (MGT 6203) Data Analytics in Business

          Grade: A

      Difficulty: 1/10
          Rating: 1/10
Time commitment: 5 hours per week
----------------------------------

This is arguably the easiest course in the whole OMSA program. This is a perfect summer course to relax or pair with another course during regular semesters. The topics covered include R fundamentals, linear models, survival models, causal inference, text mining, and neural networks. The lecture has a nice flow of presenting concepts followed by R coding demo.

Assignments

  • Homework:  Due every 2 weeks. Only takes a few hours at most. Most of the code is given in the lecture demo video. It's all done in R.

Thoughts

This course was too easy and I didn't learn anything new. They tried to follow ISLR book & lecture video and ended up being too rudimentary. They really should make this course optional.

Q&A

  • How much R should I study before taking this class ?
    • Zero. They start gently, so you can just learn R as needed when you work on the homework.
  • Does this course have group project ?
    • No. They used to but not any longer.
  • Is the content identical between the OMSA version and the edX MM (MicroMasters) version ?
    • Yes.
